A Relationship with Jesus

The most important thing you cancer do is have a relationship with Jesus. Starting a relationship with Jesus and reconciling ourselves to God and then continuing to grow in His love and character can overcome a multitude of our own shortcomings.

If you are interested in starting a personal relationship with Jesus here is what you need to do:

Admit – Admit that you are a sinner who can never achieve God’s perfect standard of holiness on your own. Repent of your sins – which simply means that you agree with God about your sins not meeting His standards for holiness. (Romans 3:23, 5:8)

Believe – Believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, who came to the world in human form, lived a perfect sinless life, and died on the cross (John 3:16-17) to pay the penalty for the sins (Romans 6:23) of all who believe in Him to save us from eternal condemnation to hell and separation from God. (John 1:12)

Confess – Confess that Jesus is Lord and Messiah (Romans 10:9-10, 13). This simply means to show and tell people! The first way to do this is to be baptized by immersion. Baptism shows the world that you are now a follower of Jesus (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38).

Before you begin a relationship with Jesus He challenges you to count the cost (Luke 14:25-33). Ask yourself these two questions:

#1. Has Jesus done everything needed to save you? Can you bring anything to save yourself?

#2. Are you willing to go wherever Jesus asks you to go and do whatever Jesus asks you to do? Are you willing to give control of your life – all areas of your life – to Jesus?
